Defts illegally contriveing & invegeling of ye. plts servant named Walter Turner from his service being then book keeper att his Ordnary Att York Towne hee ye. said Deft then failing to appe [illeg-crossed out] which said Judgmt: [illeg] this Cort: to be confirmed if hee didd not then psonally appe and answer ye same whoo now appeing And ye. plt faileing to prosecute hee is nonsuited with Costs Source: York County Deeds, Orders, and Wills (10) 71. 24 January 1694/5 In ye. difference which depended to this Cort: between mr Robt Hide Complainant agt. his servant John Beverley Deft for his loytering & illegall departure from his said masters service sixty one dayes being made appe[ar] to this Cort: for which his said Master is allowed double ye. time amounting to one hundred twenty two dayes together alsoe twenty Eight dayes more for satisfaccon of severall goods of his said Masters by him imbezeled & lost being in ye whole one hundred & fifty dayes which hee ye said servant is ordered to serve his said Master or his assignes after his first time of service is expired Source: York County Deeds, Orders, and Wills (10) 87. 25 February 1694/5 Upon ye. 16th: of this instant two men servants belonging to me ye. subscriber Ran away in a pine Canow that is all over tarred and hath a knee and pte of a hoope nailed in her head one of them being an Ireish man a well sett square fellow with darke browne bushey haire an ould frize Coat & a black hatt and wooden heele shoos he is about five and twenty or thirty years of age & his name is Matthew Andros, ye others name is John Ridgdaile an Englishman with straight browne haire & pockholes in his face about twenty yeares of age & hath an ould frize Coat lether britches plain shoes and a furd Cap, now whoesoever will apprehend & secure ye said servts & send me word or bring them home to my house in Kickotan pish in Gloster County shall be honestly satisfyed for their trouble witnes my hand this 21th Febr: 1694/5 Yorke County Febry 25th 1694 published att Cort & is recorded Test Willm Sedgwick Cl Cur (In margin: signed John Sterling) Source: York County Deeds, Orders, and Wills (10) 118. 24 November 1696 The Honorble Dannll: Parke Esqr: Complaining to this Cort: and shewing yt. whereas his servant James Debrosier absented himselfe from his sd Masters service illegally from ye. fourth of September last about twelve dayes & tooke with him a great boat which exposed ye said Complainant to ye expense of fifteen pounds fourteen shillings in ye takeing of him up as appeares to this Cort: besides his loss of time and peticoning for such Satisfaccon to be made him by service from ye. said Debrosier for ye. loss & damage hee ye. Complainant hath sustained as aforesd according to law whereupon itt is ordered yt. hee serve his said Master ye full time & terme of two years and one month after his first time of service is expired & fully ended &c. Parke by Mr Po: Weldon his attor. exhibiting an Account to this Court agt his servant Willm Horthorne for the sume of £ 11:19:0 expended in takeing his sd servant up when Runaway for which expence damage & loss of time sustained by his sd master he the sd Horthorne freely & voluntarily assumed & acknowledged in open Court 4 years service due from him to his sd master for full satisfaction from this present date whereupon motion of the sd Poynes Weldon Judgment is granted agt the sd Horthorne for due performance of the same accord. to his assumption aforesd Source: York County Deeds, Orders, and Wills (10) 353. 11 October 1697 These are to Certify whome itt may conserne yt. this day mr: Thomas Barbars Negro Tony did take up & bring before me A Negro man named Will who sayth hee belongeth to mr James Bray of James Citty County And was taken up in Kings Creek in Yorke River being above thirty miles from his Masters house and by his Owne confession hath been Run away above twelve months dated under my hand this 5d of February 1696/7 Joseph Ring The within Claime was then presented in Cort: by Capt.
